As we enter the month of February, a great deal is packed into this short month. For most people February brings Valentine's Day to center stage. Hearts, flowers, candy, romance, are but a few words that come to mind. It is a known fact that many dread this holiday, particularly if your are single. Christmas and Valentine's Day are the two most difficult holidays for people who are unattached. However, pause for a moment and consider the love in your life. Perhaps, like me, you have been single for most of your life. Who's going to give you a Valentine's Day card, send flowers, and present you with a box of chocolates? The answer to those questions is simple; people who love you! Whether it be a sibling, child, grandchild, loving friend, or compassionate co-worker, does it really matter if you have a "significant other?" And, what about you? Do you treat yourself to a spa day, decadent dessert, new shoes, or a heart-shaped box of chocolates?
Pause this month and take a closer look at those that support you throughout the year. Chances are they show love to you all year long. As Forrest Gump taught us, "Life's a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." And, yet, it is those people that consistently show up in your life that add the sweetness when some events are a bit bitter. Perhaps this year you might consider sending those loyal friends a card, a flower, a note that shares your appreciation for their presence in your life. Who knows, you may be reminding them someone "sees," appreciates and loves them . . . you may be offering them the "significant other" they feel is missing on Valentine's Day. There really is so very much sweetness to this very short month! Have an absolutely decadent month! Vicky EVENTS: The Deepening into Wisdom circle is Thursday, February 16 from 6:30-8 p.m. The focus this year is "Share a Story." Last month we spoke of ways messages are offered to help us make decisions, confirm a hunch, or build a dream. Consider joining us this month as we "Share a Story" of an experience or two that specifically contributed to our growth in wisdom. That is, what we learned we could do we may not have believed was possible. Through the support of others and life's experiences, we learned to appreciate and honor the truth of who we divinely are. Bring a cover for your lap, an open heart, and a friend if you wish, and check out the stories others may share. There is no charge for this gathering; however, a gifting bowl is present to receive whatever our heart chooses to exchange for what you received from attending. Everyone is welcome! "Using the Mandala" Retreat, will be held Saturday March 16, from 1-4 p.m. Last year's Mandala retreat was quite successful; therefore, we are offering this event again this year. Check out a few comments by those that attended last spring on the Community Events page of our website: www.headtohearttalks.com. This retreat will introduce participants to the various cultural teachings, history, and significance of the Mandala and ways in which it may be used in everyday life. Registration is required by Wednesday, March 13 to ensure sufficient supplies are available. Contact Vicky, [email protected] with questions and/or to sign up. When the Power of Love overcomes to Love of Power, the world will know Peace! Jimmy Hendrix
