As we come down to the finish line of May, now would be a good time to reflect on the moments of success. We started the month recognizing the importance of "Mental Health Awareness." With the passing of Jim Irsay, it seems noteworthy to have such a visible reminder of the influence just one person can make to so many. Mr. Irsay lived with mental challenges throughout most of his life, and he used those experiences to offer a "hand up" to others. He demonstrated how to take responsibility for his actions and Never Give Up to overcome such a difficult struggle. He didn't complain or blame anyone; rather, he choice to be an advocate by living from a place of conviction to help inspire others to NGU! He offered those struggling with such difficulties a sense of dignity to believe in themselves. I venture to say there is not a soul in this world who hasn't experienced a "dark night of the soul." The opportunity that comes from moving through such times is to learn a great deal about one's personal strength and courage to claim the divine self that lives within.
The Indy 500 has a new, first time "winner." A 23 year old young man, Alex Palou from Spain. In addition, we saw Helio Catroneves, a 50 year old, 4 time winner, challenged himself to a possible 5th win. He even came in 13th after starting at the 22nd position. So, I ask you, is he a "winner?" The remaining 31 drivers are all "winners" in my book. Why? because they had the courage and tenacity to go for their dreams. They Never Gave Up on those dreams. All too often we talk about "winners" and "losers." I ask you, whoever we gets up every morning and goes to work, whatever the amount of pay or position they hold at the workplace are they not a "winners?" Perhaps it is time to consider using the word "success." Simply living, provides ample opportunities to test our courage and bravery to muster up the strength and take the initiate to take action in life. Regardless how large or how small the successes, they are just that; a sign of the personal strength and sense of responsibility to take action for themselves and their families. Which leads the recognition of those and their families, that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and for people and families of other countries. It certainly is a reminder of the awesome life and opportunities each of us have! In conclusion. let's make every day, "Mental Health Awareness" day! Let's "treat people they way we want to be treated!" We're all "winners!" We all have "success" in our lives. I say, "Winner, winner, chicken dinner!" Get ready, Colonel Sanders, Sgt. Peppers, Popeye's or any other favorite chicken place you enjoy, we're lining up to enjoy the well-deserved chicken dinners offered! Events: Check out our Events tab for two terrific retreats being offered in June. The fifth offering of the "Mandala Retreat," and the first offering of "Infinite Possibilities." These retreats offer a path to living life in balance and with clear intention, as well as a solid means to Walk the Sacred Path of your true divine self! As we move through yet another month at warp speed, now would be a good time to pause and reflect on the events May offered. First was the recognition that May was designated "Mental Health Awareness" month which allowed us to consider our own state of mental health, which we will mention later in this blog. Next was the world renown, Indy 500 and all the festivities associated with the "checkered flag." Lastly, the opportunity to honor and commemorate the men and women of the U.S. military who died while serving their country. It is a time to pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. In 1868 General John A. Logan officially designated May 30th as a day to honor and show respect for those heroes.
Using the 500 race analogy, "I wondered how many times we 'Change Lanes' in our life?" Certainly when in high speed, stressful, or intense situations we have to make quick decisions which, of course, raises our blood pressure, causes our heart rate to increase, and our breathing to become shallow. At those times, our head springs into action and our natural instincts kick in to manage the situation. In the case of race car drivers, and the military men and woman, those situations were chosen. Something within their inner sanctum moved them into action to pursue their "calling." We cannot know for certain the specific moment when that desire was birthed. What we can know, is it was chosen and the action was taken to bring that dream to fruition. Each of us have an "inner sanctum," a place deep within our heart that beckons to be of assistance, to offer support, and guidance during our life, that wishes only to be of service. It's getting to that place that often requires we change lanes many times throughout our life. It take courage to find that place, take action, and if the choice was disappointing or not as satisfying as we had hoped, to return with a strong, positive energy to move in a different direction. Thusly, our mental dialogue, that inner chatter needs to be from our inner sanctum, rather than a fearful, negative, self-defeating place. All too often our human conditioning may lead us to a place that does not serve the love and sweetness we wish to have in our lives, or in the world. Let us cross the finish line into June with a renewed desire to take the warm, welcoming of summer and infuse our hearts and those around us with patience and compassion. Let's help society "Change Lanes" to a path with more understanding, acceptance and heart felt fun! Events: A quick note: Deadline is June 5 to sign up for our next, "Using the Mandala as a Compass" retreat being held on Saturday, June 7, 1-4. bring a friend and learn the basic of living a balanced life and getting to know and trust your inner sanctum! It is a game changer for creating the life you truly desire. From my heart to yours, Vicky As nature unfolds her beauty, I am reminded of the rich abundance available to each and every one of us. Life offers a plethora of opportunities to choose and create the life of our dreams. Whatever we truly desire can and will come in fruition. Sometimes those statements seem too grandiose, too unachievable, too distant. Whatever word fits one's current life situation, those words are true. Those times when nothing seems to line-up or is taking too long, are the times when we need to really go within . . . to our heart. All too often the voices in our head run at warp speed out of fear and doubt. Of course, we have financial obligations to live in this world, and with layoffs, competition with other job seekers, and other extenuating circumstances, our head is doing it's job! Perhaps the loss of a relationship, death of a loved one or another major disappointment was the culprit for the pain we feel. Our beautiful mind's job is to figure things out, strategize, search for options, and the list goes on. While it is doing it's job, it also can become a judge that reminds us of all the things we "should've/could've" done or we would not be in the current situation.
The Truth is, life brings challenges, circumstances often beyond our control, whichever the case, chances are your heart is hurting. Those are the times when growth and change is just on the other side of what we are confronting. Indeed, it is very difficult to summons up the courage to find the strength to set aside time each day to become clear on what we want when our heart heals. We live at a time when support, guidance, and information is rampant, and yet, we often feel very alone. So, how do we heal? If there is one thing I know for certain, "Thoughts become things," one of the first places to begin is to examine those ruminating thoughts. Begin from a place of being the observer and you will quickly discover what needs attention and carefully examined. Doing that takes a great deal of time and commitment. It takes reflecting with gentle eyes on your prior experiences and examining what you learned. Then with tenderness, turn towards your heart and the healing will begin. Every person alive has met such life-changing times in their life, and if we will reach out to a group, attend a retreat, join a yoga or other healing modality, we will begin to feed our spiritual self. If we are faithful to our true, authentic self, our tears will become less and hope will return. We live in a fast pace world and yet when life circumstances happen, it takes time! It does, however, happen with each step we take. And, if we "never give up," we can begin to feed hope, faith and a knowing there is a divine source that is on our side. Some food for thought: Check out our Resource tab, there are some remarkable gatherings by impeccable human beings that offer diverse ways to identify and enrich your heart while feeding your beautiful mind! Check out our Events tab for offerings here at Dancing Flame Medicine Lodge as well. Lastly, I recently became certified as an "infinite Possibilities" Trainer. What a profound way to truly become aware of who you truly are when unencumbered by old stories and shifting your thoughts. We will be offering that course sometime this summer. Periodically check our Events page for other opportunities as well. Until then, enjoy the colorful display of spring growth. Remember, they too, had to wait until the perfect time to come into their fullness! From my heart to all you brave warriors heart's, Vicky |
